Digital Substations & IEC 61850

We are one of the leaders in the engineering and design consulting space in deploying digital substations and IEC 61850 solutions in the electrical industry. In the last five years, we have designed, tested, and commissioned over 100+ substations with IEC 61850 for utility, industrial, data centers, and oil & gas facilities across the Americas. 
 
HMV also designed and commissioned the first digital substations based on IEC 61850 standard in Chile and Colombia. We currently have more than ten digital substation projects in our pipeline across our different markets in the US, Colombia, Chile, Peru, and Brazil.

3D Modeling and BIM Design Tools

HMV has leveraged collaborative 3D modeling design tools such as SDS, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, and Navisworks to perform Substation and Civil design work. Using these cutting-edge tools has reduced rework in the field, streamlined design, faster turn-around of design packages, and lower construction and testing costs. Our project experience using 3D modeling includes the design of substations up to 500kV, SVC systems, GIS, and HVDC converter stations.

Protection and Control (P&C) Advanced Design Tools

At HMV, we possess vast expertise in implementing AutoCAD Electrical. Our team has assisted numerous clients in creating P&C libraries, design standards, and P&C design packages using AutoCAD Electrical. Transmission Lines Design

Our T-Line team has vast experience working on Transmission Line design projects ranging from 4 kV to 500 kV for electric utilities, solar developers, and Independent Power Producers across the US and the world. Our T-Line team has both utility and consulting backgrounds.

Some of our most recent projects include:

•  Engineering design and construction support of a new 230kV transmission line connecting 300MW of solar power to the electric utility in North Carolina.
•  138 kV and 230kV Transmission line structure replacements in Florida.
•   Design of a 345kV transmission line connecting a synchronous condenser switchyard (HMV is also designing) to the connecting utility in Utah.
•   Engineering design and construction support for several transmission lines (up to 500kV). For instance, a new 48-mile, 500kV transmission line in Colombia.
